i wanna buy a dog but cant find a petshop that sells dogs. they just sell hamsters or fish

GOOD! If you want a dog go adopt from a shelter or rescue or find a reputable breeder. No pet shops and no bybs. No kijiji, puppyfind, nextdaypets etc.

petco or petsmart has adoption events.. but the shop itself doesnt sell the dogs.. those are shelters and rescues that adopt them out there. Petshops are supplied by puppy mills.. you do NOT want to get a dog there. They don't sell dogs because they do not wish to support puppy mills and neither should you. Try your local shelter

check your local shelter... plenty great of dogs there, literally dying to have a good home. so help them out, and save some money by not buying an overpriced dog from a breeder!

Thankfully, a lot of pet shops have finally latched onto the idea that any puppies they buy to sell on come from puppy mills which are just barbaric. I'll leave the others to described just what fantastic conditions puppy mill dogs have to survive in. Any puppy you buy from a pet shops come from a puppy mill and the money you spend on it will enable such cruel places to carry on operating. Supply and demand. Buy from a shelter (www.petfinder.com) or a reputable breeder (www.akc.org).

good. Go do more research, and learn the difference between a puppy mill, a BYB, a reputable breeder, and a puppy broker. THAT'll teach ya. Want a dog? Either go to your local shelter, or go to a reputable breeder. Stores are the worst place to get dogs.
